- JOB SUMMARY: Works with the Director of Clinical Operations to manage and coordinate patient care, supervise staff, provide treatment in accordance with established philosophy, objective, and policies of the hospital to ensure safe, high quality and therapeutic patient care. Relates effectively with other disciplines. In the absence of the Director, can serve as the chief clinical presence in the program. NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May be required to perform duties of lesser, equal or greater responsibility. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Clinical expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy or related cognitive-behavioral treatment, trauma and stressor-related conditions, crisis intervention, skills in working with uniformed service professionals and the chronically mentally ill population as well as with individuals and families undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress; skills in diagnosis and assessment. Ability to work as part of a comprehensive community mental health team and to represent the Brattleboro Retreat in the community. Familiar with community support systems, health care and human service resources, courts and police, etc. Good organizational skills, writing skills, effective interpersonal and team skills. Must be a self-starter and able to function independently. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including weekends. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics and the state mental health code. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work or Master's credentials in a related field acceptable to the Director of Clinical Operations or Chief Clinical Officer. Must be current LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Psychologist Doctorate in the State of Vermont. Minimum of five years professional experience in the mental health field. Inpatient experience preferred. Knowledge of and experience in using acceptance and commitment therapy strongly preferred--or related cognitive-behavioral treatment. Previous supervisory experience required. Experience in working with uniformed service professionals strongly preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance.
