Currently recruiting a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to provide care to active duty heroes, retirees, and their families, at Womack Army Medical Center. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will be part of the Service Member Justice Outreach Program, which is designed to minimize the adverse mental health impact of disciplinary and legal problems (military or civilian) on eligible military Service members that could lead to separation from the military. The LCSW will work Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (LCSW) INCLUDE:
Screen eligible service members facing disciplinary actions, who consent to screening, for possible psychological health issues, including but not limited, to distress related to their legal/disciplinary problems; unless the eligible member has already been screened by a mental health professional or are already receiving military mental health care. Focus on psychological stress related to occupational, legal and other issues. Use tools selected by the Integrated Mental Health Strategy (IMHS) workgroup along with clinical interviews to screen eligible members.
Provide referral services to Service members who have evidence of psychological problems. Immediately refer Service members at imminent risk for harm to self or others to appropriate emergency services. Emergency care should be coordinated with the Service member’s existing mental health providers as appropriate.
Follow-up on a regular basis with those Service members facing disciplinary action who consent to such follow-up to determine if they are receiving the services they need, and if not, take appropriate actions to assist them with receiving needed services. This includes Service members referred due to imminent risk of harm once the immediate crisis has resolved.
Provide brief psychological support and treatment, such as problem solving skills training, etc., when these services are indicated and are not otherwise available from existing resources. Make referrals to appropriate military, Veterans Affairs, other governmental and civilian resources and care providers as indicated.
Liaise with command and military justice officials and engage with appropriate military and civilian community resources on a regular basis regarding the overall program.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (LCSW):
2 years post-masters experience as a clinical social worker within the last three years.
Current, unrestricted license to practice independently as a Clinical Social Worker in any state
U.S. citizen (for access to Government computer systems.)
