Grand Junction VHCS is looking to fill the Whole Health Coordinator position. This is a multi-interdisciplinary position (only one position available) and the selectee may be a Registered Nurse, Dietitian, Social Worker, or Respiratory Therapist. *Please apply to the additional announcements per job series as applicable.

This position is located at the Grand Junction Veteran Health System in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Whole Health Coordinator provides leadership to the following programs: Whole Health & Patient Centered Care (WH &PCC;); Veterans Health Education and Information (VHEI) Program; Integrated Health and Wellness Program; and the Health Promotion & Disease Prevention (HPDP) Program. Services include provision of expertise in complimentary health, patient centered care, education, and HPDP concepts. These programs are accomplished in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

The Whole Health Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing ongoing implementation of the Whole Health and Patient Centered Care (WH&PCC;) practices within the Health Care system. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, management, and coordination for the implementation of the following programs: WH&PCC; program, HPDP Program, Integrative Health and Wellness (IHW) Program, and the Veteran's Health Education (VHE) Program. Additionally, the incumbent may support potential associated research studies or grants. The incumbent functions as a key driver for developing, maintaining, and furthering Whole Health Practices including changes in the environment to promote the culture of patient centered care. Additionally, the incumbent will lead the training curriculums for all led programs. The incumbent will chair the WH&PCC; committee, VHE committee, and HPDP committee. Additionally, these committees will serve to further establish the IHW program.

The Whole Health Coordinator will assist the team in developing, and implementing local policy/procedure, evaluate effectiveness of the program, collaborate with related programs, and specialty care programs. The incumbent is responsible for leading quality instruction to employees, trainees, and Veterans following local and national VHA. The Whole Health Coordinator will attend all education team meetings, and function as expert in WH&PCC;, VHE, HPDP, and IHW programs. The Whole Health Coordinator applies this expertise in a rural setting.

The incumbent is under the supervision of the Chief of Education. Consultation from the Chief of Education is available upon demand, but the incumbent is expected to function independently in carrying out routine program matters. A minimum of 2 years experience is preferred.

To qualify for appointment as a social worker in VHA, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens. * Citizenship Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part.) * Education Have a master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. * Licensure Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website. (1) Exception. VHA may waive the licensure or certification requirement for persons who are otherwise qualified, pending completion of state prerequisites for licensure/certification examinations. This exception only applies up to the full performance level. For grade levels above the full performance level, the candidate must be licensed or certified.

Physical Requirements:This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, and sitting. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.
